Lauren Fanucchi of Saratoga, California has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Vanderbilt beginning in fall 2027.

Fanucchi swims for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and finished her long course season at Sacramento Futures right after competing at the 2026 US Summer National Championships. She notably swam a 2:19.76 200 fly at US Nationals for 48th. She was faster at Futures the same weekend, posting a 2:16.44 for 4th.
Back in April, she had a huge swim in the SCY 200 butterfly at the PC SCSC Far Western Championships. There she dropped over two seconds off her lifetime best to break the 2:00 mark in the event for the first time as she touched in a 1:59.71.
Fanucchi’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 200 fly: 1:59.71
- 100 fly: 56.04
- 500 free: 4:57.49
The Vanderbilt women finished 13th out of 13 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships with 146 points. The team did not have any individual finalists.
Based on her best times, Fanucchi has the potential to be a strong addition when she arrives next fall. She is just off what it took to final in the 200 fly at SECs as it took a 1:59.67 to earn a second swim. Vanderbilt did not have anyone sub-2:00 in the event this past season as Ellie Butler led the program with a 2:00.87.
Fanucchi will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Jasper Jones, Ellie Druhan, Ariel Kong, and Kinley Jones.
