After having a dominant short course season earlier in the calendar year, 14-year-old Sheldon Lamb hasn’t been doing too shabby in long course, either.
Lamb had a couple of nice performances at the Central Zone 14 & Under Championships in Minneapolis, clocking personal best times in the 50 back (26.85) and 100 back (58.73) during the boys’ competition. In the boys’ 13-14 age group this season, Lamb is now 4th in the back and 5th in the 100 back. His time in the 100 back is now 52nd all-time in the boys’ 13-14 age group.
Lamb’s previous best before the meet in the 50 back entering the meet was 28.62 (he had a time of 27.68 in prelims), while his prior best in the 100 back was 58.98 set in July.
Other individual standouts at the meet were:
- Umma Nelson, 14, had a personal best time of 33.00 in the 50 breast, moving her to 12th this season in the girls’ 13-14 age group.
- Also in the girls’ competition, 10-year-old Maddie Dill made moves up the national rankings, swimming personal best times in the 50 back (34.09) and the 100 back (1:16.09). In the girls’ 10 & under age group this season, Dill is 2nd in the 50 back and 8th in the 100 back.
- On the boys’ side, 13-year-old Layten Norem clocked personal best times in both the 50 back (27.92) and the 100 back (1:00.80). This season in the boys’ 13-14 age group, Norem is now 12th in the 50 fly.
- Ady Seymour, 14, swam a personal best time of 33.21 in the 50 breast during the girls’ competition, moving her to 17th this season in that event for the girls’ 13-14 age group.
- Nina Collins, 12, set six personal bests in the girls’ event, doing so in the 200 free (2:10.50), 400 free (4:36.14), 800 free (9:23.68), 1,500 free (18:07.41), 200 fly (2:27.04) and the 400 IM (5:14.64).
