There is nothing “middle” about Middleton when it comes to Division 1 boys high school swimming in Wisconsin. Middleton remained firmly on top of the state, claiming its fourth straight state championship.
Middleton won eight events and swept all three relays, led in large part by seniors Caden VanBuren and Sam Wolf.
Committed to Loyola of Chicago, VanBuren repeated as champion in the 50 free with a time of 20.08 and won the 100 fly in a time of 47.46.
Wolf, an Indiana commit, claimed the 200 free in 1:37.33 and repeated as champion in the 100 breast with a time of 54.16.
VanBuren and Wolf were also each a part of two winning relay teams.
In the 200 medley relay, Middleton broke its own state record, coming in with a time of 1:29.81 behind the team of Max Carter (22.74), Henry Zanton (25.67), VanBuren (20.58) and Ben Cutler Heiderscheit (20.82). The old record was 1:30.60 set by Middleton at last year’s meet.
