Kyah De Mitri from Summerland, British Columbia has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at the University of British Columbia beginning in fall 2026.
De Mitri swims for Penticton Kisu Swim Club out of Penticton, BC and swam at 2025 Canadian Trials. There she was highlighted by 17th place finishes in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. She swam a 1:14.69 in the 100 breast and a 2:41.17 in the 200 breast. She also was 27th in the 800 free, 29th in the 50 breast, and 33rd in the 200 IM.
Back in March at the BC Winter Championships, she won the SCM 100 breast (1:09.45), 200 breast (2:27.82), and 200 IM (2:16.52). All three wins were also lifetime bests.
De Mitri’s Best SCM Times Are:
- 100 breast: 1:09.45
- 200 breast: 2:27.82
- 200 IM: 2:16.52
De Mitri will travel west to Vancouver and the University of British Columbia is about a four hour drive from Summerland. The University of British Columbia women captured the 2026 USports Championship in March with 1444 points, finishing almost 500 points ahead of 2nd place University of Toronto. The British Columbia women were led by Kayla Sanchez who scored 128 points, winning the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 50 back.
Based on her best times, De Mitri would have been 4th in the 200 breast, 6th in the 200 IM, and 11th in the 100 breast. The highest finishers in each event for the team included Amaris Peng (2nd, 200 breast, 2:26.18), Eloise Allen (2nd, 100 breast, 1:06.22), and Jade Lo (2nd, 200 IM, 2:13.15).
