2026 U.S. Masters Summer National Championship
Three records set in one swim made it a great first day for Heidi George at the U.S. Masters Swimming Summer National Championship in Sacramento on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old George set three different AQUA Masters, USMS and world records during her 1500 free swim in the women’s 50-54 age category.
George first turned in a record-setting performance in her 400 split, clocking a time of 4:37.27. She set more records in the 800 free with a split of 9:20.71, and then she finished it off with a time of 17:33.76 in the 1,500 free, which also broke AQUA Masters, USMS and world records in the age group.
George was a standout in the 90s for Division III Middlebury College in Vermont, winning three consecutive national titles in the 1,650 free. In 2015, she was inducted into the Middlebury College Athletics Hall of Fame.
The women’s 1,500 free was the first event of the competition that will run through Sunday at the North Natomas Aquatics Complex.
The only other event staged on Wednesday was the men’s 1,500 free. Age categories in each event range from 18-24 to 80-84.
Events scheduled for Thursday in both genders are the 200 breast, 100 back, 100 fly and 400 free.
